How we do it

Season by season

UF/IFAS says St. Augustinegrass usually needs weekly mowing in the growing season and less in the cooler months, and that in north Florida grass may not need mowing in winter, depending on the weather and the grass. So the plan follows the grass: weekly from late spring through summer, every other week as growth slows, and cleanups in place of cuts in the dead of winter.

Local fertilizer rules

Escambia County's and the City of Pensacola's fertilizer ordinances bar applying nitrogen or phosphorus fertilizer during a National Weather Service flood, tropical storm or hurricane watch or warning, or on saturated soil, and keep fertilizer 10 feet from ponds, streams, canals, lakes and wetlands (3 feet with a deflector shield, drop spreader or sharp edged liquid applicator). Worth knowing before you or anyone else spreads it.

Lawn care vs lawn service

People search both. Here they mean the same thing: a crew that keeps the lawn cut, edged, trimmed and clean on a set route day, priced per visit by lot size, with no contract.

Lawn care and lawn service questions

Do you do lawn care in winter?

Less of it. UF/IFAS says north Florida grass may not need mowing in winter, depending on the weather and the grass, so winter visits are mostly cleanups, leaves and hedges when you want them.

Will you fertilize or treat weeds?

Yes, as a separate service. Our state licensed partner applies the fertilizer and weed killer, not our mowing crew. We can also pull weeds by hand in beds during a cleanup.
